Cornouaille, Brittany, Normandy France -
Manoir du Kinkiz is a famous maker of cider from Brittany. The Cornouaille Cider is governed by strict rules as to the variety and source of the apples and the cider must be submitted to a tasting panel to guarantee authenticity and typicity. It is fermented naturally and is yeasty on the nose and full, sweet and bitter in the mouth, leaving a pleasant freshness. This cider is also dry and rich enough to accompany food. Alcohol 5.5%
Cornouaille is an area in Brittany which was settled by migrants from the Duchy of Cornwall – at one stage the same language was spoken on both sides of the Channel.
Anneville Cidre Traditionnel is from Normandy. It has a distinctly apple fragrance with a nice touch of yeastiness. Rich mango in colour and cloudy it is deliciously fruity yet cleansingly dry. A nice touch of tannin finishes things off very well. Alcohol 4.5%
Pour into a flute for the best effect.
Le Pere Jules Poire is the sweetest of the trio. It smells of pears and flowers. Gloriously clear with the finest bubble, it too looks splendid in a flute. Although sweet and fruity, Le Pere Jules Poire is exquisitely fine. Match with soft cheeses. Alcohol 4%
Anneville Cidre Doux - made from Binet Rouge apples. Very fragrant, sweet and tasty but not cloying. Alcohol 2%. Exquisite.
