Derwent Valley TAS sample 6 pack

Was:$241.00

Now: $205.00

Derwent Valley, Tasmania –
Sun-bathed slopes, an ample river, plenty of cosseting for the fruit of these plush pinots.

Pack contains 1 each of these wines -

  • 2008 Derwent Estate Pinot Noir – Gold Medal Royal Hobart Wine Show. Perfect balance, pure fruit, soft, lingering flavours.
  • 2007 Tinderbox Pinot Noir - the Derwent River broadens out into the D'Entrecasteaux channel south of Hobart. Tinderbox produces distinctive, exquisitely perfumed pinots with briary characters. Try now and buy some for the cellar.
  • 2008 Stefano Lubiana Estate Pinot Noir – If you have gravel under your feet and can see over the river then wisdom has it you will make good wine. That works as well for Steve Lubiana on his elevated site with its variety of soils, overlooking the Derwent River, as it does in Bordeaux. Brilliant fragrant perfume in this one with typical full and complete palate. Good acids ensure excellent cellaring potential.
  • 2007 Laurel Bank Pinot Noir – Also at Granton, a happy Tasmanian pinot hunting ground. Laurel Bank has scooped Gold Medals with each successive vintage from ’05 (sold out) through '06 and now '07. A plush, luxurious style of pinot.
  •  2009 Stefano Lubiana Primavera Pinot Noir – Bright and juicy with fruit tending to the raspberry and other briar fruits spectrum.A little more weighty than previous releases owing to maturation in very large, new oak barrels. That’s had the effect of rounding out the tannins.
  • 2008 Heemskerk Lowestoft Pinot Noir – Anna Pooley’s second edition under this label from the Lowestoft Vineyard. Balance and finesse.

That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
