Lenswood, South Australia –
This first Henschke sparkling is released to celebrate Henschke’s 140th anniversary. Stephen and Prue Henschke are the fifth generation winemakers.
The wine is made from 100% pinot noir off Henschke’s Lenswood vineyard and is a blend of vintages spanning 1997 to 2005. In Champagne a wine of this style would be called a deluxe or prestige cuvee.
As you might expect from the age of the material in the blend the wine is full, round and soft but also has a perfect line of acidity to keep it refreshing. The nose is a meld of nutty, toasty aromas with lemon cream and on the palate there’s delicious spiciness and raspberry/strawberry flavours.
The bead is fine, abundant and persistent.
Crown seal.
