Swansea, East Coast, Tasmania –
Kelvedon Vineyard has a history of pleasing pinot lovers since the first vintage in 2002. A string of very good vintages has culminated in two outstanding wines - the 2009 Kelvedon Pinot Noir (sold out) and new vintage release 2010.
As befits a pinot from Tasmania's mild East Coast, Kelvedon's 2010 Pinot Noir shows an abundance of spice and sweet dark berry fruits on the nose. In the mouth, the intense blueberry/blackberry elements dominate deliciously. This is a smooth, smooth pinot - no hard edges despite its youth - but with a solid core of fruit wrapped in ultra fine tannins.
It is completely delicious now, especially given a blast through the Vinturi, but will cellar for several years.
2010 Kelvedon Pinot Noir $35ea, $199 six pack, $380 doz
