Granton Tasmania -
Steve Lubiana came to Tasmania from South Australia in 1990 to make quality sparkling wine in a cool climate. He’s realised that vision with NV Brut and Vintage sparklings, both of which received acclaim from the earliest days.
The composition of Stefano Lubiana NV Brut sparkling is now roughly 50:50 chardonnay and pinot noir, giving it more floral/citrus freshness than in previous releases. There is still weight and depth though in a dry finish.

Vintage 2003 Stefano Lubiana Brut topped the polls of Gourmet Traveller WINE's roundup of Australian sparklings in the December/January 2011 edition:
'2003 Stefano Lubiana is a very individual style. The age shows in its golden coour, nutty, honeyed complexity and hints of brown apple. It's very full-flavoured and rich, but with a classy balance. Hooke loved it "Straw and smoky pinot aromas, with an excellent balance of autolysis and fruit. Palate - fresh, clean and dry with a beautiful balance." This is a sparkler for those who like rich, developed flavours and a high level of complexity.' 5 stars, 95 points, AGT WINE Dec/Jan
