Situated 4km west of the Wairarapa town of Masterton, Wycroft vineyard is on the silt/loam and gravel terrace built up by the adjoining Waipoua River. It is tucked under the Tararua Mountains, and experiences long, warm summers with a high diurnal temperature range, followed by crisp winters under the snow-capped peaks. Masterton is close to Martinborough and is part of the official Wairarapa region.
Wycroft Pinots were one of the special 'finds' of Pinot Noir 2010 in Wellington. It was the grace, elegance and sheer sweet beauty of the fruit that impressed. These pinots are not overworked, instead they are poised and gently persistent; perfect partners for food. Jancis Robinson has described Wycroft Pinots as being "seriously alluring for Burgundy lovers".
Forbury is Wycroft's 'companion' label; vintage 2008 is the first release.

We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir.
That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
