Mud Bar & Restaurant

Mud tasting plate

The name is a nod to the sometimes present mud flats of the North Esk River just as it meets the broad Tamar River basin. High tide or low tide this Launceston (Tasmania) river front location is as alluring as is Mud’s stylish interior and simple, tasty food.

The hip and happening bar is a great place to be at any time of the day – more relaxing during the afternoon but with a bit more buzz, if that be your thing, during the evening. Mud serves only the best top shelf goodies and local, Australian and imported wines.

Mel and Don Cameron, formerly of Stillwater, are the new owners and have returned to the floor and kitchen respectively with a slightly more Asian influenced menu, but still with the emphasis on tasty simplicity. They're farmers too - their own Drivers Run lamb is a tender addition.

Lunch and dinner, 7 days, phone 03 6334 5066. Mud is at the Seaport complex.

Pinot Shop is located in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia at 135 Paterson Street down at the river end near Cataract Gorge, Stillwater Restaurant and The Mill Providore. We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir. That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
