Quartz Reef 2020 Bendigo Pinot Noir

Quartz Reef winemaker Rudi Bauer commands huge respect. He began making wine in New Zealand nearly two decades ago, before NZ wines achieved the elevated status that they now enjoy. His CV includes stints at Mission Vineyard (Hawkes Bay), Giesen’s Canterbury vineyard, Rippon at Wanaka in Central Otago and vintages in Oregon and Burgundy.

Vintage 1998 was the first for Rudi & partner Clothilde Chauvet’s Quartz Reef label. The wine is aptly named – New Zealand’s largest quartz deposit lies beneath the vines at Bendigo Station.
