Ata Rangi 2019 Pinot Noir
Winery : Ata Rangi
Clive Paton, the founder of Ata Rangi (which translates as 'new dawn') planted the original home block in 1980, making him one of the handful of pioneers of the Martinborough region. The wines go from strength to strength: Helen Masters' masterful winemaking, vine age, a deep understanding of site and the wisdom of decades shows in every beautiful new release. Only the oldest parcels of fruit are used in Ata Rangi Pinot. The fabled Abel clone makes up 40% of the blend.Michele's notes: A wonderful Ata Rangi with the classic alluring and brooding nose – all dark cherry and brambleberries, plus spice, liquorice and ferrous/earthy elements
Smooth, flowing and luscious in the mouth; the tasty dark fruits and spice continue in the mouth - the sensation is one of balance, richness and persistence of flavour. Fine but chewy tannins add to the volume. Tremendously satisfying Pinot, with a lovely long life ahead.
