Jane Eyre 2019 Burgundies
Winery : Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre arrived in Burgundy in 2004. Now, after a decade of producing wines under her own micro-negociant label, she has been awarded La Revue de France's 'Negociant of the Year 2021'.
Eyre's approach is one of careful nurturing - techniques to suit the season and interference only when necessary. 'I figure if I buy the best fruit I can afford and fastidiously sort it, then what needs to be extracted will come out without me forcing things. '
2019 Jane Eyre Gevrey-Chambertin: Eyre's notes - '...from two sought-after plots "Combe du Dessus" and "En Champs". Vines are between 35 and 50 years old... expressive with generous aromas (black cherry, raspberry tart, tobacco), texture is velvety and voluptuous, coupled with fine spicy length, the signature of the vintage...'
2019 Jane Eyre Cotes de Nuits Villages: Eyre's notes - 'A blend of two parcels located halfway up the hillside in Comblanchien...this year the quality of the grapes allowed me to vinify with 40% whole bunch, giving it a unique aromatic expression, a lot of roundness in the mouth with soft, slightly chalky tannins. Fleshy and charming pinot... very accessible now'
2019 Jane Eyre Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Les Bondues: Eyre's notes - '...a 90 year old, biodynamically farmed vineyard... very chalky soil gives it an unforgettable energy and aroma, intense and vibrant... expressive...rich and concentrated in the mouth, blueberry...denser tannins with great length.'
2019 Jane Eyre Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Les Corbeaux: Eyre's notes - 'Corbeaux is situated right next door to the illustrious Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin. Power of the Corbeaux terroir can be found in the persistent liquorice and cherry aromas. Nose is racy and subtle with precise fruitiness...on palate broad, generous and rich, persistent cherry flavours. One of the most sought-after pearls in my range.'
