Marchand & Burch 2018 Bourgogne Rouge
Winery : Marchand & Burch
Marchand & Burch is a collaboration between Burch Family Wines (producers of Howard Park) and Pascal Marchand, a Canadian by birth who has spent more than three decades in Burgundy, including as winemaker for Comte-Armand. The wine is under screw cap.
Michele's notes: Berry brioche, whiff of baked rhubarb, with ferrous minerality/slate - all in all, exotic aromas that say 'I'm not from the Southern Hemisphere'. Dark fruits, grilled mushrooms (umami) and typically French dry savouriness in the mouth, but the fruit powers through. Intriguing and very tasty - crying out for long-braised oxtail.
