Layers of flavour, fine structures, savouriness and sweet fruit. Style-wise Oregon pinots are in the fuller-bodied category but with balance and elegance.
2015 Chehalem Three Vineyard Pinot Noir: From Willamette Valley estate vineyards Ridgecrest, Stoller & Corral Creek. Vineyard notes - 'Look for accents of chocolate, violets, five-spice and dark juicy cherries. Moderately-deep in intensity of structure and tannin, but produced with restraint for perfect acid structure and elegance.'
2014 Cristom Estate Pinot Noir: Vineyard notes - 'The Cristom Estate Pinot Noir is a faithful expression of the estate, a testament to the unique hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills and a blend of some of winemaker Steve Doerner’s favorite lots from these certified sustainable vineyards. Medium-bodied, with red berry and earthy flavors, supported by fine-grained tannins and lively long finish.'
2015 Elk Cove Willamette Pinot Noir: Vineyard notes - 'A brambly nose of black currents, tart cherries, and violets is met with spicy cardamom and cinnamon. A core of juicy red cherry, cocoa nibs and leather on the palate is complemented by fine tannins evocative of dried leaves, pipe tobacco and anise.'
2015 Rex Hill Willamette Pinot Noir: Vineyard notes - 'Vibrant notes of cherry, raspberry and marionberry mingling with toasty oak, cola, spice and vanilla notes and a dusty, earthy component. Palate shows darker fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry, boysenberry and black plum. Smooth tannins, lovely acidity and a lingering finish. While drinking well now, this is a Pinot Noir built for aging, sure to grow more complex over the next 15 to 20 years.'
2016 Penner-Ash Willamette Pinot Noir: Lynn Penner-Ash began her wine-making career at Rex Hill, she is now an industry icon. Vineyard notes: ' Rife with spiced plum and dark chocolate with cherry notes and a hint of oak. Its delicate and round structure leads to a rich lushness upon the finish.'
2015 Stoller Reserve Pinot Noir: From the Dundee Hills, which is an American Viticultural Area within the larger Willamette AVA. Vineyard notes - ' Reveals hints of a warm growing season, opening with aromatics of black cherry, cedar and licorice. The palate presents elegant tannins, carrying flavors of ripe cherry and raspberry. This wine can be enjoyed now; however, was constructed for longevity with proper cellaring'
