Laurel Bank 2019 Pinot Noir
Winery : Laurel Bank
Laurel Bank was established by Kerry Carland in 1986 at Granton, 20 minutes from the Hobart CBD and just north of the Bridgewater Bridge. With a northerly aspect and sloping site, this is a great place to grow pinot noir. Most of the pinot noir vines are now more than 30 years old and have developed substantial growth systems, the advantage being greater carbohydrate reserves in the often dry summers.
Michele's notes: This is such a distinctive pinot with its intense aromas of anise, small dark berries and interesting herbal twist - think dried basil.
The flavours are dark and brooding but still vibrant and balanced, with plenty of mouth-filling ripe dark cherry, licorice, minerally elements and ultra fine tannins. Acid is very well integrated. In terms of drinking, It is in a particularly lovely place at the moment but we know these wines cellar magnificently.
