Winery : Home Hill
98 POINTS James Halliday Top 100, November 2019
THREE TROPHIES: 2019 Cairns Wine Show Awards
Home Hill Estate is at Ranelagh in Tasmania's Huon Valley. Since the remarkable 2005 Home Hill Pinot Noir, which won the (then) Tri Nations Trophy, Home Hill in Tasmania's Huon Valley has produced a stand-out pinot in each vintage. Owner Terry Bennett and son Sean's meticulous viticulture of 20+ year old vines is a significant part of the magnificent Home Hill Pinot style.
Michele's tasting notes: It's a sleek beauty this one! Clarity of colour and fruit. The nose is intense, mouthwatering... bold berries - currants and cherries - with underlay of damask roses, clove and waft of charcuterie. There's vitality to the flavours (thanks to superbly grown old vines), depth too and that unmistakable sleekness. Sweet licorice and lick of salt on the juicy but dry finish. What an intriguing wine, even in youth.
