Marco Lubiana 2020 Lucille Vineyard Pinot Noir
Winery : Marco Lubiana
Marco Lubiana is led by the principles of biodynamics, that viticulture is the key to wine quality with simple winemaking techniques gently guiding the wine along its path. Minimal or no use of sulphur without sacrificing freshness or longevity. No fining nor filtration. His father Stefano’s knowledge and legacy is an inspiration.
Producer notes: 'Lucille Vineyard, located in the Huon valley, 30 minutes drive south of Hobart, is a cool climate vineyard originally planted in 1973 by Steve Ferencz. These old vines are planted on a grey clay, containing riverbed stones covered by a sandy loam top soil. The vineyard is now certified Biodynamic. This is crucial for maintaining biodiversity in the soil, vines and surrounding environment. No fining nor filtration.'
Michele's notes: Such a fitting label… the nose is redolent of flowers of the meadow, also intense briar fruits, notably blackberry, with blueberry too. Lovely. You can spend time unpacking all the layers. Mouthwatering - gives the promise of deliciousness to come, which it delivers without heaviness or excess. Flowing and pure in the mouth, the fruit flavours are sleek and satisfying, complemented by salty liquorice tang and minerality. The gently dry/fine tannin finish completes the picture. Very stylish.
