Tolpuddle Vineyard was founded in 1988 by Bill Casimaty, Gary Crittenden and Tony Jordan. Owners since 2011, Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith (Shaw & Smith) were on a look-and-see jaunt in Tasmania when they became smitten by Tolpuddle's Coal Valley location and mature vines, planted only to pinot noir and chardonnay. In only a few vintages, Tolpuddle has established itself as one of the country's top pinots.
Michele's notes: Deep colour for a Tolpuddle Pinot, but typical of the wines of this low-yielding vintage. Mouth-watering aromas with dark cherry, anise and marzipan. Great fruit purity.
Wonderfully tasty with a beautiful pinot flow across the palate. The acid is precise but not overwhelming. Sweet fruit and fine, dry tannins are in perfect harmony. An excellent Tolpuddle release and a must for every cellar. Won't last long.
