Brinktop Tempranillo 2025
Winery : Brinktop
Brinktop was established in 2017 by Gill Christian and Todd Goebel at Penna (between Richmond and Sorell) at the southern limit of the Coal River Valley in Tasmania. The north-east facing slopes of this site are cooled by breezes off nearby Frederick Henry Bay. This aids in retaining perfume and freshness in the wines.
New release from this well-respected producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Brinktop Tempranillo has a sweet lift of blue fruits, think elderberry/blueberry. Then a smack of cayenne pepper, sweet tobacco leaf and black cardamon.
The palate has a juicy herbal wash with drying fine tannins and some savoury beef char along with a cherry plum pop. There is a subtle power to this wine demands and rewards good food and company, not necessarily in that order…
