Amisfield RKV Reserve Pinot Noir
Winery : Amisfield
Amisfield's vineyards are situated at the foot of the Pisa mountain range in Lowburn, an ever so slightly warmer sub-region that produces sweetly ripe and textured fruit. Amisfield was once a high country sheep station, standard heritage for Central Otago vineyards. The initial vines were planted in 1999, with the first vintage in 2002.
Most of the very small quantity of Amisfield's flagship RKV (Rocky Knoll Vineyard) Reserve Pinot that comes in Australia ends up on the wine lists of a few very good restaurants. Pinot Shop is one of a handful of retail stockists. The wine is sourced from selected blocks within the Amisfield estate. Always rich in concentrated, dark fruits, the pinot has layers of complexity with characteristic plush texture. Ageworthy.
Vintage 2014 RKV has arrived in limited quantities. Bob Campbell 95 Points, 5 Stars
