Apsley Gorge 2018 Pinot Noir
Winery : Apsley Gorge
Tasmania's Apsley Gorge is a world apart. The location is unique, the vineyard snuggled as it is under the Douglas Apsley National Park at the northern end of the East Coast. It is a cool location, extending the ripening season and making it among the last to pick in the state. Brian Franklin has honed his experience in both hemispheres - he produces wine in both France and Tasmania.
Michele's notes: Earth, meat, tobacco, wet stone, blood… loads of secondary characteristics mingle with the dark fruits, notably luscious black plum and briar fruits. After breathing the fruit aromas have greater focus and clarity.
In the mouth it is all about luscious flow with dark chocolate and liquorice mingling with the bold fruit and earthiness. It is a very tasty wine indeed and the flavours keep on and on, in that typically Apsley Gorge way.
