Bangor 2016 Abel Tasman Pinot Noir
Winery : Bangor Wines
Bangor at Dunalley in southern Tasmania is farmed by the fourth generation of the Dunbabin family, who are relatives of the Dunbabins of Milton Vineyard, and also Six Friends. Bangor wines have shown up very well in Tasmanian Wine Shows over the last couple of years, winning Gold Medals for both Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, but they have been very scarce. We are delighted to have some 2016 which received a handy Silver Medal at the 2019 Show. It is worth noting that the 2015 got a Gold, having received a Silver last year. Moral of the tale? Bottle age is a lovely thing.
Rich raspberry and dark cherry. Soft and plush in the mouth, the sweet fruit flooding the palate. There's some excellent oak there too and ultra fine tannins framing everything in a stylish way. Delicious, lip-smacking.
