Chardonnay - Tolpuddle 2018 Chardonnay
Winery : Tolpuddle
Tolpuddle Vineyard was founded in 1988 by Bill Casimaty, Gary Crittenden and Tony Jordan. The new owners since 2011, cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith (Shaw & Smith), were on a look-and-see jaunt in Tasmania when they became smitten by Tolpuddle's Coal Valley location and mature vines, planted only to pinot noir and chardonnay.
Tolpuddle wines are made by Shaw & Smith winemaker Adam Wadewitz (ex Bests). The experienced Ray Guerin (AGT WINE Viticulturist of the Year) is viticulture consultant with vineyard manager Carlos Souris providing the expert day to day tweaking of the vines. His skills have just earned him the Trophy for Viticultural Excellence at 2018 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards.
Tolpuddle Chardonnay is an outstanding cellar proposition with its purity of fruit, fine and steely backbone and excellent natural acidity. Focused and precise in their your, Tolpuddle Chardonnays develop curves in all the right places after at least five years more in bottle. Stone fruits, flinty minerals and nougat with lip-smacking, citrus zestiness.
