Chillout Whites Pack
Winery : Various
A revitalising collection of some not-so-familiar but particularly interesting (and of course delicious) white varieties from Italy, Spain and Portugal. Two of each of these in the mixed dozen.
2016 Correggia Roero Arneis (Piedmont IT): The wonderful white (arneis) of nebbiolo country. Fragrant with almond, textured and smooth. Complex yet refreshing.
2014 Pe Branco (Alentejo PT): Made by the Herdade de Esporao team headed by Australian-Portuguese David Baverstock, a major figure in Portuguese winemaking. We love its fragrance, zestiness yet silky viscosity on the finish. Brilliant balcony wine, with or without food. Screw cap.
2016 Vina Olabarri Viura (Rioja SP): Pure refreshment. Aromas of honey, ginger, blossom and lemon. Well chilled, this is about as good as it gets to slake the thirst when the temperature rises. Extremely popular. Easy to remove PLASTIC CORK.
2016 Pieropan Soave (Veneto IT): An icon Soave producer, Pieropan's premium white wine is fragrant with florals and fruit with a silkily textured palate and refreshing finish.
2016 Basa Blanco (Rueda SP): Telmo Rodriguez' fabulous incarnation of Verdejo (which is possibly related to verdello). Ultra flavoursome, zesty but some richness too. Crowd pleaser.
2016 Flor de Crasto Branco (Douro PORTUGAL): Dazzling white, exquisite refreshment made from three indigenous grape varieties including rabigato. Fragrant and dry, this wine is a brilliant partner to all antipasto/tapas. Only 12% alcohol.
