Dawson & James 2014 Pinot Noir

$72.00 - $415.00

Peter Dawson and Tim James are friends and winemakers who worked together at Hardy's for 20 years from the late 1970s. Since then they have moved on to other companies and ventures, among them Dawson & James Wines.

'We've always had high expectations and standards in terms of our appreciation of wine, and now we've pushed ourselves to make two wines that hold their own with the best in the world. We took the highest quality grapes from a vineyard in Glenora, Tasmania, and with minimal tweaking, have let the grapes do the work. The great satisfaction for me has been going back to a hands on, no compromise winemaking approach.' Peter Dawson

Vintage 2014: GOLD MEDAL 2016 Royal Melbourne Wine Show; DOUBLE GOLD 2016 Six Nations Trophy (and highest pointed Australian Pinot)

This is a powerful but seductive pinot. It satisfies on so many levels, smokiness mingles with plum and candied orange. Very full in the mouth with excellent fruit tannin backbone

Pinot Shop is located in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia at 135 Paterson Street down at the river end near Cataract Gorge, Stillwater Restaurant and The Mill Providore. We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir. That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
