Dr Edge is former Bay of Fires winemaker Peter Dredge's venture. 

As in 2016, there is a complete set of the 2017 sub-regional Dr Edge Pinots plus the Dr Edge Tasmania Pinot Noir which is a blend of North, South and East fruit. The sub-regional Pinots are ONLY available as part of the Quartet with the 'Tasmania' Pinot.

Winemaker notes: '(The sub-regional wines) follow the same concept as last year, with the same vineyards, but a different clone. Last year was MV6 - a muscular clone in a light year. This year it is 115 which is a leaner clone, demanding more whole clusters for tannin but ties in nicely with the super, highly concentrated 2017 vintage.'

2017 Dr Edge TASMANIA Pinot Noir $55: 'A blend of all three - 60% South, 30% East, 10% North - with some additional clones and techniques thrown in. Four different clones,  lots of bunches, lots of carbonic maceration for more aromatic lift.' Michele's notes: Gamey, red fruits. Dried rose petals, savoury, sweet/sour on the finish. Zesty, flavours bounce. A sleeper.

2017 Dr Edge EAST Pinot Noir: SOLD OUT Hazards Vineyard fruit. Michele's notes: Ruby red. Sweet fruit, cherries and spicy sausage. Full, soft and juicy with ultra fine, chalky tannins. Forward, fruit builds in the mouth.

2017 Dr Edge NORTH Pinot Noir: SOLD OUT Stoney Rise fruit. Michele's notes: Brilliant ruby colour. Smoky charcuterie initially then the perfume lifts. Volume and texture in the mouth. Plum fruits. Becomes more aromatic with breathing. Delicious drinking now.

2017 Dr Edge SOUTH Pinot Noir: SOLD OUT Meadowbank fruit. Michele's notes: Red rose/violet on the nose. A little quiet and secretive at the moment, but it will definitely have something interesting to say if you are patient. Tangy cherries with a clean finish.
