Dr Edge 2018 Pinot Noirs
Winery : Dr Edge
Dr Edge Mixed Pinots SIX Pack contains 3 x Tasmania blend, 1 x North, 1 x East, 1 x South Pinots
Dr Edge is former Bay of Fires winemaker Peter Dredge's venture. In the last three vintages 2016, 2017 and 2018 he has made three sub-regional wines as well as a 'Tasmania' blend. The sub regional Pinot Noirs are made as similarly as possible from the same selected Pinot Noir clone (777) within each vineyard
2018 Dr Edge TASMANIA Pinot Noir: 'A blend of all sub regional wines with some additional clones and techniques thrown around to elicit emotion from wine journalists.' Michele's notes: A beautifully fragrant and fruit-focused incarnation of the 'Tasmania blend' - scents of raspberry brioche and sweet spices. In the mouth the acid serves to enliven the fruit. With each sip the flavours build, delicately but persistently framed by fine, chalky tannins. Immaculate finish. Not heavy, not light... just right.
Because the 'sub-regional' wines are in short supply we are ONLY offering them as part of the mixed SIX (see above) with the 'Tasmania blend'.
2018 Dr Edge EAST Pinot Noir: Hazards Vineyard fruit. Sweeter fruit to the fore.
2018 Dr Edge NORTH Pinot Noir: Tamar fruit from Joe Holyman's acclaimed Stoney Rise vineyard. This is 'brooding' pinot of the trio.
2018 Dr Edge SOUTH Pinot Noir: Meadowbank fruit - some of the vine material goes back 40 years. Harmony and balance.
