Sam Scott's Adelaide Hills Fiano is a favourite with all our customers - internet shoppers and store visitors alike - with an almost 100% return purchase rate.

Scott Fiano is a brilliant example of how well some Italian varietals do in the Adelaide Hills. Sam Scott's Fiano is dry but aromatic, clean but soft and is ultra-refreshing well-chilled. It veers between the texture of pinot gris with the liveliness of riesling but in a slightly drier package.

'This wine makes so much sense. In its hot southern Italian homeland of Campania, the fiano grape thrives in slightly cooler, hillside vineyards inland from the coast - country that is not totally unlike the Adelaide Hills. This example, from winemaker Sam Scott, hits the varietal characters of fiano spot-on: spicy, floral aromas of jasmine and ginger lead on to a rich and textural, grape-pulpy palate that finishes crisp, dry and clean. Very exciting wine.'  Max Allen on the 2011 vintage (in AGT WINE Feb/March 2012) which also won 2 trophies at the Alternative Varietals Wine Show.

And here's Jancis on the variety fiano from The Tome (aka 'Wine Grapes, A Complete Guide) 'Rich, waxy, strongly flavoured, fashionable southern Italian.' And paraphrasing: 'Old variety from Campania...mentioned as early as 1240... wines are strongly flavoured...attractively waxy texture, subtle aromas and best have capacity to age...recently found favour in Australia.'

Pinot Shop is located in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia at 135 Paterson Street down at the river end near Cataract Gorge, Stillwater Restaurant and The Mill Providore. We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir. That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
