Kreglinger Wine Estates 2017 Pinot Noirs
Winery : Kreglinger
The influence of winemaker-wunderkind Jim Chatto (Chief Winemaker Kreglinger Wine Estates) and vine-whisperer consultant Ray Guerin has put Pipers Brook Vineyard and Kreglinger Wine Estates' Pinots back where they belong - in the upper echelon of Tasmanian pinot achievement.
2017 Pipers Brook Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir: GOLD MEDAL 2018 Royal Sydney Show. This is a blend of the best parcels of fruit from Kreglinger's vineyards in the Pipers River and Tamar regions. Michele's notes: Deep ruby. Completely balanced and harmonious pinot noir - there's delicious dark and morello cherry fruit, incredibly fine tannins,a lick of acid, and a litheness across the palate.
2017 Pipers Brook Vineyard A10 Block Pinot Noir $62: This is from a small block close to the winery building at the original Pipers Brook site, established by Andrew Pirie in 1974. Michele's notes: Vibrant colour. Sweet/savoury yin yang pinot thing going on here, with red fruits, juicy acidity and nutty/toasty notes from very good oak. Intriguing and delicious.
2017 New Certan Mt Pleasant Pinot Noir: SOLD OUT Made from some 60 odd clones from the small Mt Pleasant vineyard overlooking Launceston and the Tamar Valley. Michele's notes: Serene pinot. The aromas are initially muted but mysterious and alluring. The fruit is soft and sweet with flavours that linger. There's more going on here than at first taste and it gets lovelier and lovelier by the minute.
