Laurel Bank 2015 Pinot Noir
Winery : Laurel Bank
Laurel Bank was established by Kerry Carland in 1986 at Granton, 20 minutes from the Hobart CBD and just north of the Bridgewater Bridge. With a northerly aspect and sloping site, this is a great place to grow pinot noir. Most of the pinot noir vines are now 23 years old and have developed substantial growth systems, the advantage being greater carbohydrate reserves in the often dry summers.
Deep ruby with purple flashes. Brilliantly precise and intense dark cherry fruit on the nose with anise, and some rose. This is typical of Laurel Bank Pinots and makes them so very appealing at first sniff. The intensity follows through in the mouth; at this taut and youthful stage the black fruits are enmeshed in a framework of chalky savoury tannins and morello cherry style acidity.
