Lisdillon 2016 Pinot Noir
Winery : Lisdillon
Lisdillon is at Swansea on Tasmania's East Coast, a (mostly) sun-shine blessed sub-region noted for producing generously fruity and seamlessly structured pinots.
Sweet fruit aromas rise alluringly from the glass. Blackberry fruits with hint of clove-scented carnation, five spice too. Juicy, lip-smacking... the flavours are sustained but they don't cloy; a very elegant pinot. Dry and savoury finish but with the fruit lightly lingering in the background. Brilliant balance.
The pastoral property Lisdillon has been in the Cotton family since 1830. Like his brother Julian (Jack) Cotton of nearby Kelvedon Estate, (the late) Crispin Cotton (d. 2014) diversified from sheep farming into grape growing.
