  • 2008 Nevis Bluff RESERVE Sold Out!

One of the original producers of Central Otago, Nevis Bluff has been producing premium Pinot Noir since 1999. The name comes from the striking rock formation in the Gibbston Valley where the original vineyard was planted. Nevis Bluff now sources all fruit from the L’Attitude vineyard in the warmer Lowburn sub-region. Nevis Bluff Pinots are aged prior to release.

Nevis Bluff 2010 Pinot Noir: Michele's notes: As I tasted this new release 2010, I thanked the producers for insisting on ageing their wines prior to release. This is one of the most delicious pinots I've tried in the last six months, luscious but balanced, perfectly weighted and silky smooth at every turn. Deep crimson with a tinge of magenta, it has the good looks to provide the prequel to rich aromas - blackcurrant, roasted meat, licorice - and backing this up in the mouth with extra textural elements.

Sam Kim 5 stars, 94 points 'A gorgeous pinot. The complex bouquet is filled with mature fruit notes together with roasted meat, earthy mushroom, nutmeg and floral characters. The palate is concentrated yet elegant and poised with silky texture and supple mouthfeel. Lovely harmony and layers of aged, delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2018.' Nevis Bluff 2008 Reserve Pinot Noir: Textured, layered, and the sweet perfume is enveloping. The grapes were cold soaked for 7-10 days (50% whole bunch), fermented for 7-10 days, followed by 7-10 days of post maceration on skins. The wine was then aged in French Oak barrels for about eighteen months, with 33% in new oak.

Pinot Shop is located in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia at 135 Paterson Street down at the river end near Cataract Gorge, Stillwater Restaurant and The Mill Providore. We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir. That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
