Pooley 2018 Single Vineyard Pinots
Winery : Pooley Wines
Pooley is a well-established Coal River Valley (Tasmania) producer. Cooinda Vale is the name of the original vineyard site, established in the 1985 on the banks of the Coal River, about six kilometres north of the town of Campania. Butcher's Hill is the newer site, closer to the historic town of Richmond.
The estate is a second and third generation family-run affair - father John tends the business, son Matt tends the vines, daughter Anna and her husband Justin Bubb tend the wines.
Pooley 2017 Cooinda Vale Pinot Noir: Michele's notes: Abundant perfume, red flowers (notably carnation) to the fore. Also mouth-watering cherry and quince. Juicy in the mouth with fine, chalky tannins providing a cleansing note. Subtle and intriguing, builds in flavour with each sip. Impeccable balance.
Pooley 2017 Butcher's Hill Pinot Noir: Michele's notes Classic Butcher's Hill charcuterie and spice on the nose, with enticing chocolate and dark cherry. Fleshy and round in the mouth, this is a very giving pinot in all aspects - texture as well as flavour complexity. Touch of savouriness from the oak on the finish.
