Tamar Valley TAS sample 6 pack
Winery : Various
The term Tamar Valley is used in its broadest sense here, encompassing Tamar Valley and Pipers River. Pinot styles vary from the weighty might of the Kayena block, juicy vibrance of Rowella to the poised delicacy of Pipers River.
Pack contains 1 each of these wines:
- 2015 Josef Chromy Pinot Noir (Relbia): GOLD MEDAL 2016 Royal Hobart Wine Show. Rich and generous in this vintage with dark berry fruits, characteristic spice and fine-grained texture.
2015 Small Island Wines Pinot Noir (Glengarry): GOLD MEDAL 2016 Royal Hobart Wine Show. James Broinowski's Small Island Wines was born from a crowd funding campaign in 2015. This is the first release and the fruit comes from 25 YO vines off Glengarry vineyard in the Tamar. Juicy and delicious.
- 2013 Tamar Ridge Single Site Kayena Pinot Noir (Kayena):Richly structured pinot noir from one of the Tamar's best pinot sites. The Tamar is well known for producing vibrant and lively pinots with more than the usual quotient of juiciness. There are a few exceptions however, selected blocks from Tamar Ridge's Kayena Vineyard (just beyond the Batman Bridge on the west Tamar) among them, that produce very full-flavoured pinots with depth and weight.
2014 Holm Oak 'The Wizard' Pinot Noir (Rowella): Six rows of premium pinot grapes were selected for Rebecca Duffy's special treatment: 30% whole bunch, natural ferment in open-top fermenters, hand plunged, extra time in oak. It is a gracefully perfumed wine with excellent textural qualities.
2013/14 Delamere Pinot Noir: Established in Pipers River in 1982, now owned by Shane Holloway and Fran Austin (ex Bay of Fires winemaker). This Pinot is a blend of experimental techniques both in the vineyard and the winery, with elements of cold soaking, whole bunch fermentation and barrel fermentation. All parcels were hand picked, pressed by basket press and matured in French oak.
- 2015 Goaty Hill Pinot Noir (Rowella): GOLD MEDAL 2017 Tas Wine Show. Boutique Tasmanian producer owned by a group of friends. The vineyard is at Kayena/Rowella, just north of the Batman Bridge. Mouth-watering intensity. Great aromatics with rose and blackcurrant. Jubey and delicious.
