Tasmanian Pinot Age Perfect MIX
Winery : Various
Right in the drinking zone, these delicious Pinots will give joy now but also repay a little more time in the cellar.
3 x 2012 Kelvedon Cellar Release Pinot Noir (EAST COAST): This superb vintage was one of the best-loved of all the Kelvedon Pinots and was voted in the TOP SIX at our 2014 Showcase. Wine scribe Tim White describes Kelvedon Pinots as 'melting on the tongue like Iranian pashmak' which description was never more apt when tasters assembled for our Melbourne Tas Pinot event last week, described this supremely dreamy pinot noir as 'Wine of the Night'. MUST HAVE!
3 x 2013 Brook Eden Pinot Noir (PIPERS R): Quite rich and brooding and drinking very smoothly indeed. Dark fruits with plum and savoury char from the oak. Brook Eden was established in 1988 on the basalt soils on a small hill in the Pipers River region.
3 x 2014 Two Bud Spur Pinot Noir (HUON V): We loved the Gold Medal winning 2013 Two Bud Spur but this is in our minds a step up. So aromatic, so enticing with its cherry-berry and rose perfume. Silkily textured, ultra, ultra fine tannins and juicy. What's not to like?
3 x 2014 Morningside Pinot Noir (COAL R): Peter Bosworth's delightful Coal R Valley Pinots are always much-admired at our Pinot Showcase each year. Not only are these wines made from nearly 30YO vines, they come with bottle age too. Plenty of time left for this concentrated 2014 Pinot with its intense fruit and spiciness.
