Tasmanian Pinot The Classic MIX
Winery : Various
Classics of their sub-regions, in this delicious mixed Tasmanian pinot dozen.
3 x 2017 Gala Estate (White) Pinot Noir (EAST COAST): Splendid new release of the perennial East Coast favourite. Cherry/coffee/mocha on the nose with a hint of cinnamon. Fleshy in the mouth, and soft, but with refreshing acidity. Dangerous pinot this one... suddenly you notice the bottle is gone.
3 x 2017 572 Richmond Rd Pinot Noir (COAL R): Another super vintage from one of Coal River Valley's petite producers. Vibrant colour and a brilliantly fruity perfume. Berry fruits and licorice in the mouth, flavours linger with savoury finish.
3 x 2016 Priory Ridge Pinot Noir (EAST COAST): This 20ha vineyard is not far from St Helens and Binnalong Bay at the northern end of the East Coast. Brian Franklin of Apsley Gorge fame makes the wine. Deep colour and rich flavours of dark fruits, complemented by more savoury woody herbs and char from the oak. Silky texture.
3 x 2016 Derwent Estate Pinot Noir (DERWENT): One of the best ever pinot releases from Derwent Estate at Granton on the western bank of the Derwent River. Perfect balance, intense and luscious fruit, full, lingering flavours. Savoury complexity to finish.
