Top Spaniards - Rioja & Ribera del Duero

$69.00 - $450.00

2009/10 RODA Reserva (Rioja) $95: One of Spain's greatest wines, Roda is the 'Grand Cru' of Rioja. Roda Reserva is the top wine in the range. 'Reserva' is what was once Roda II. Importer Scott Wasley notes: 'A red berry juice expression, lively and fresh, despite the great depth and textural complexity which are typically present. A wine of outstanding harmony, already expressive and complex, with a great future ahead.'

2009 Telmo Rodriguez Lanzaga (Rioja) $69: Organic and biodynamic plantings in the region of Lanciego. Importer Scott Wasley notes: 'Darker and a little fuller (than 2008), this is perfectly pure Rioja. Dark cherry fruit has meat and leather savouriness, with a mountain thyme and red lavender lift. It is extremely supple with a nicely fructose entry which rolls out into a textured palate. It’s as perfectly reflective of site as wine can get, and barely ‘made’.'

2012 Psi (Ribera del Duero) $79: Psi is the brainchild of Peter Sissek, founder of Pingus. PSI is biodynamic Tinto del Pais (local clone Tempranillo) from old bush-vine plots at around 900m altitude in the valleys of Gromejón and Perales. This wine stood out at a tasting of Ribera del Duero wines last year - slurpy but rich, dark chocolate, coffee, tobacco, roast beef, characterful and delicious.

Pinot Shop is located in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia at 135 Paterson Street down at the river end near Cataract Gorge, Stillwater Restaurant and The Mill Providore. We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir. That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
