Utzinger 2020 Pinot Noir
Winery : Utzinger
Swiss winemaker Matthias Utzinger travels the world and meets Tassie girl Lauren, works with Stefano Lubiana at the then newly acquired Panorama Vineyard in the Huon Valley, plants his own vineyard in the Tamar Valley, and releases a range of excellent wines under the Utzinger label.
This release is an excellent follow on from the 2019 vintage, which drew so many pinot enthusiasts to the Utzinger label.
Michele's notes: The wine makes a great first impression. Deep ruby/magenta in the glass and vibrantly aromatic with cherry/blueberry and a hint of exotic spice. In the mouth it has lovely clarity of fruit and already a quite silky/glycerol profile. Complementary savouriness from the oak creates a food-friendly style. While the wine is drinking well now, cellaring of 6-8 years would not be out of the question.
