Valli Pinot Noirs
Winery : Valli
As a winemaker, Valli's Grant Taylor aims to be invisible, letting each of the individual sites that make up this quartet of Valli Pinots - Gibbston, Bendigo, Bannockburn & Waitaki - speak with clarity and uniqueness. Winemaker Jen Parr shares the same 'hands off' philosophy. Her outstanding contribution was recognised in the award of Gourmet Traveller WINE NZ Winemaker of the Year 2020.
2020 Valli Waitaki: From the Otago region where Grant Taylor grew up. Fine boned structure with delicate perfumes.
2020 Valli Gibbston Pinot: The coolest of the Central Otago sub-regions. Bright ruby garnet. Fragrant with Kentish cherries, almond, tomato confit. Lithe and silky in the mouth. The persistence of flavour belies the gentle weight and structure. Juicy profile.
2020 Valli Bannockburn Pinot: The warmer climate of Bannockburn produces darker fruit flavours. Rich ruby magenta. Chocolate, dark raspberry and mushrooms - an intriguing and enveloping bouquet. Velvety in the mouth but with excellent pinot energy.
2019 Valli Bendigo Pinot: From the elevated Chinaman's Terrace, the coolest part of warm Bendigo. Dark and brooding with plum and meaty notes, cola and cocoa. There's plenty of fruit power here but the wine is focused and vivacious. Persistent flavours with savoury tannins.
