ANIM Collection 2023/24 Pinot Noirs

MIXED SIX contains: 2 x 2024 Windrush, 2 x 2024 Clarence, 1 x 2024 Tinderbox, 1 x 2023 Abel  Pinot.

This new collection is a superb showcase of Max Marriott's intuitive, understated and site-respectful winemaking - skills that he has mastered from more than 26 years of making Pinot Noir in Tasmania and across the globe

2023 ANIM ABEL Pinot Noir (limited)

Caper berries and strawberry husk with some celery salt and ground coffee. There is also pomegranate molasses, some plum jam/ kumquat hints, leading to wet earth/topsoil

The palate has abundant vibrant energy and mouth pop Roasted mushrooms,quince and  dark meat (goose?)there is a great structure to this wine that needs time to unpack/unfurl with a big Winter feast!

2024 ANIM Clarence Pinot Noir

There is a steely ferric compound,blood sausage/black cardamom also hints of charred roast beef lardons, wild roadside black berries (complete with dust!) also some star anise. tamarillo (tree tomato) so sour but juicy sweetness

What a great texture. some cayenne pepper flakes, a lot of mouth puckering goodness. Tannins are playful and restrained in this brief mouth journey, the glycerol glide is compelling.

2024 ANIM Tinderbox Pinot Noir (limited)

Hints of lavender, rose petals, some cranberry and macerated cherries with a hint green cardamom and sumac.

The palate is brushed with baked rhubarb and a tang of quail bones. The tannins are supportive to the elegant blue fruits (loganberry) the oak comes to the back and mid palate to support the fruit

2024 ANIM Windrush Pinot Noir

Opening mocha and bitter chocolate with a raspberry coulis, and earthy red soil aspect. Some wild thyme, capers (salinity) little bits of cayenne pepper.

Textural joyfulness, blood plum, clove (spice) broody,moreish. some gameness about it (roasted/charred wallaby) there is 'volume' and a third dimension about this wine (thanks MAX) hints of black olive tapenade. very moreish and an appetite enhancer!
