Peregrine 2017 Pinot Noir
TROPHY Champion Organic Red Wine, 2019 NZ Wine of the Year Awards
Peregrine was established in 1998. As well as the original Gibbston site, with its famed building resembling a soaring peregrine, there are now top sites in Bendigo and Pisa to supply fruit.
Bold, dark and sleek in this super vintage. A long and benign autumn allowed for extended ripeness and berries with great fruit concentration. There's a much higher portion of Bendigo fruit in 2017 (87%), which accounts for the extra oomph in Peregrine's characteristically fleshy and sumptuous style. Dark cherry fruits and mulberry with dark chocolate. It is quite a mouthful but classically balanced too.
