MIXED DOZEN contains 4 each
Ricky Evans is best known for his Two Tonne range of regional Pinots, named after the two tonnes of fruit that he sourced for the first vintage in 2013. In this vintage release, three regional Pinots are available - TMV (Tamar), STH (Southern Tas), EST (East Coast) - each a delightful reflection of the varying locales.
2025 Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Pinot Noir: Fruit is sourced from different sites in the Tamar Valley area including Relbia.
Morello cherries, sweet baby beets, with blackcurrant whiffs and white pepper. There an immediate savouriness to this wine
Juicy, fine tannins and moreish fruit, nothing is 'out of place' again with the blackcurrant and also cranberry/lingonberry. Some woody herbs (sage, thyme) Its light on its feet, accessible and immensely enjoyable. The fruit is genuinely expressed in the final moments of the wine, uncompromised and confident.
2025 Two Tonne Tasmania STH Pinot Noir:
A full-bodied Pinot Noir, reflecting the 1/3rds Derwent Valley,Coal River & Huon.
Kola nut, ferric, blood sausage. Bresaola, blackberry with some.vanilla pod. Hints of celery salt/saline also some cumin warmth/spicy with petrichor
Gamey, spiced cherries (cayenne pepper) macerated blackberries, damson plum. sinewy yet sleek. Good trio of matched acids/tannins and fruit. Some lingering warmth. Probably the most generous and complex of the three wines, no surprise given the three different regions. (Coal River, Huon & Derwent)
.
2025 Two Tonne Tasmania EST Pinot Noir:
From a small vineyard on the Freycinet coast.
Opening notes of fennel seed/French tarragon. Raspberry coulis, some hints of bitter chocolate / cacao.
There is a glycerol/textural warmth, spicy cayenne pepper/sumac, more dark fruits (blackberry & plum) anise, salty caramel, and licorice. Pleasing acids, vibrant. and fresh (how every East Coast) Theres a nice 'roundness' to this wine, more fruit driven than TMV which was more savoury/brambly
