Burguet 2012 Burgundies
Winery : Burguet
For the last few years we have stocked, when we can, the exceptional Burgundies of Alain Burguet, and have always received great feedback from customers. In vintages 2011 & 2012, the Burguet wines feature the names of the sons, Jean-Luc and Eric on the label rather than father Alain. The changeover has not been instant in the winery and vineyard though - the Alain Burguet wines of very recent vintages also bear the style stamp of the sons.
'I have been buying the Burguet wines for many years. Still it is always a bit of a surprise to realize that time passes and now the next generation is fully in charge. Alain Burguet’s sons Eric and Jean-Luc Burguet have converted all of the domaine’s vineyards to biodynamic farming. In the cellar, the Burguet brothers seem to favour a slightly more laid back approach to their dad, which includes using less new oak.' ANTONIO GALLONI
- 2012 Burguet Bourgogne Rouge Les Pince Vin $66: 'A very fresh, cool, bright and airy nose of primarily red pinot fruit leads to delicious, vibrant and tension-filled flavors that offer good balance if only average depth, at least at present. There is enough underlying material to suggest that more may develop with a year or two of bottle age.' BURGHOUND
- 2012 Burguet Vosne Romanee $165: '...impresses for its density and resonance. Plum, black cherry, violet and spice notes meld together in a gracious, expressive wine. A model of pure sensuality and finesse, the 2012 is drop-dead gorgeous from the very first taste. Underlying veins of salinity add tension and vibrancy on the finish. There is a lot to like here.' - 2012 Burguet Gevrey Chambertin Mes Favourites $119: 'Dark red cherries, plums, spices and wild flowers are woven together in the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes. This is an especially tense, energetic Mes Favorites built on perfume and freshness rather than the more intense style of years past. There is a lot to like here.' ANTONIO GALLONI
- 2012 Burguet Chambolle Musigny Les Echezeauxs $165: '...very, very pretty. Hard candy, flowers and sweet spices inform a supple, impeccably balanced Chambolle that impresses for its total sense of class. The radiant fruit is nicely rounded out by lively acidity and firm yet well-integrated tannins. In 2012, the Chambolle is a jewel of a wine.' ANTONIO GALLONI
