Pooley is one of tas's long-established producers, with vines originally planted by the late Margaret & Dennis Pooley at their Cooinda Vale property in the Coal River Valley in 1985. The Pooley estate also includes Butcher's Hill, established in 2003, on the outskirts of Richmond.

Pooley 2025 Butcher's Hill

Opening notes of Damson plum, blackberry coulis, and hints of anise/French tarragon. There are some sweet Asiatic spices, orange rind, and savory meatiness—think braised beef short ribs. The lasting impression is subtle and elegant.

A wash of silky texture greets your palate, embracing fine tannins and lively supporting acids. Again, the dark berry fruit spectrum is evident, along with more savory hits: porcini mushrooms.

Pooley 2025 Estate Pinot Noir

Vineyard notes;

A bold and expressive Pinot Noir showcasing the intensity of Coal River Valley. The senses are awakened by aromas of fresh raspberry, wild strawberry, violets and dried herbs.The palate is a symphony of rich plum skin, cacao and fresh cracked black pepper, leading to a weighty mid palate. It concludes with a firm tannic back bone and lingering savoury finish.
