Tolpuddle 2023 Pinot Noir
Winery : Tolpuddle
Tolpuddle Vineyard was founded in 1988 by Bill Casimaty, Gary Crittenden and Tony Jordan. Owners since 2011, Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith (Shaw & Smith) were on a look-and-see jaunt in Tasmania when they became smitten by Tolpuddle's Coal Valley location and mature vines, planted only to pinot noir and chardonnay. In barely a decade, Tolpuddle has established itself as one of the country's top pinots.
Michele's notes: It is immediately impressive with an exotically fragrant bouquet. Dark cherry, blackberry, red carnation, cardamom and Chinese five spice in abundance, backed by hints of bakery and more savoury elements of beef tartare, pepper and braised fennel.
Mouth-filling and silky with persistent and ultra-fine, chalky/nutty tannins, and just the right amount of acid. Cherry fruits and lively pomegranate give the wine essential freshness yet deep satisfaction that is a hallmark of the variety.
