Henri Abele Champagnes

Founded in Reims in 1757, the family-owned House of Henri Abelé is one of the oldest in Champagne. With no vines of their own, grapes are sourced from great sites in the Cote des Blancs and Montagne de Reims.

Henri Abelé NV Brut $79: Grape mix is 40% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir and the all-important 25% pinot meunier. The last gives a forward fruitiness which makes the Abelé NV style particularly agreeable. Blossom, peach and apricot on the nose with luscious, toasty notes in the mouth. The ripe fruit is beautifully evident; overall it is a soft, generous, mouth-filling style. 

Henri Abele NV Rose $95: 40% pinot noir, 30% chardonnay, 30% pinot meunier. Absolutely exquisite. I loved this from the first sip to the last drop. Sweet red berries - strawberries and raspberries - and a hint of rose/turkish delight. Full in the mouth with that excellent slight grip/chalkiness from the extra skin contact with the red grapes.
