Chardonnay - Donnafugata La Fuga Chardonnay
Winery : Donnafugata
Donnafugata is a top Sicilian producer, making one of the dreamiest of Italian Chardonnays, which as a group are extremely delicious wines.
Donnafugata, literally ‘woman in flight’ refers to Queen Maria Carolina, who fled Naples in the early 1800s on the arrival of Napoleon’s troops, seeking refuge in the part of Sicily where the winery's vineyards now stand. Donnafugata is also the name of the Prince's 'palace' in Lampedusa's novel The Leopard.
La Fuga ('the flight') Chardonnay comes from DOC Contessa Entellina in the province of Palermo, altitude 200-600m.
Full-bodied chardonnay with abundant white peach as well as floral and honeyed notes in a minerally framework.
