The land of misty hills, truffles and three delicious red grapes - Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba.
Nebbiolo is fragrant with florals, red fruits and gamey hints. It is finely structured and finishes with elegant tannins. It ripens last of these three grapes.
Barbera d'Alba is succulent in a cherry/fruity mode and has a refreshing finish. Oak plays only a little influence, if at all.
Dolcetto d'Alba ripens early so is suitable for higher, cooler sites. Deeply coloured, liquorice and almonds are common descriptors.
