Jean Paul Brun is an icon wine producer in Beaujolais. Under the Domaine name of Terres Dorées he produces a range of Cru and 'villages' Beaujolais from 50 hectares in the southern part of Beaujolais. Wines from the Cru areas usually only state the name of the Cru, omitting the name Beaujolais.

Rather than use the traditional Beaujolais techniques of whole-bunch and carbonic maceration, Jean Paul Brun looks to northern Burgundy, de-stemming and employing 'pigeage' (plunging). The wines are full-flavoured and complex. Jean Paul Brun's wines are grown and made using minimal chemical and technological intervention. Sulphur levels are very low and indigenous yeasts are used to ferment the wine.

2014 Jean Paul Brun Fleurie: Living Wines, importer: 'This wine is much stronger than the average Fleurie however the berry fruits and cherry fruits are there and the long, lingering, minerally, pure finish is very appealing. This 'cru' Beaujolais is complex, elegant and very drinkable.'

2015 Jean Paul Brun Moulin a Vent: Living Wines, importer: 'The Moulin à Vent from Jean Paul Brun is an elegant beauty that belies its price. There are berry flavours on the palate and a very pleasant savoury finish. The first time we tried this wine we were blown away by both the structure of the wine on the palate and the beautiful, elegant, lively finish.'

Pinot Shop is located in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia at 135 Paterson Street down at the river end near Cataract Gorge, Stillwater Restaurant and The Mill Providore. We specialise in the best of premium pinot noir as grown so beautifully in the cool climes of Tasmania, New Zealand and southern parts of the big Australian continent. Our love for pinot extends to its sibling styles pinot gris and grigio and fizzy cousins sparkling wine and Champagne, even when they don’t contain pinot noir. That’s not to say we’ve become too exclusive - we also stock an interesting range of delicious wines for those (rare) times when you’re not drinking pinot…
