Central Otago Pinot Sample Pack
Winery : Various
New Zealand's Central Otago region comprises several sub-regions, all of which bestow particular style characteristics in the wines. The wines of Cromwell basin and Wanaka are sweetly scented and openly textured, Bendigo delivers depth and power, while Bannockburn pinots show exceptional harmony and balance.
2020 Mud House Claim 431 Pinot Noir: The Bendigo sub-region gives layers of dark cherry and ripe plum with delicate spice and subtle earthiness. Elegant and complex palate is driven by concentrated dark fruits and cool climate acidity. Subtle spiced oak and supple tannins provide texture, length and finish.
2019/20 Amisfield Pinot Noir: Spice and dark chocolate characters combine with Amisfield's characteristically luscious fruit in one of Central’s best known pinot noirs. The generosity of Lowburn fruit is the heart of this style.
2020 Moonlight Race by Burn Cottage Pinot Noir: Biodynamic producer. Blend of grapes from the original Burn Cottage vineyard in Cromwell and the Sauvage vineyard in Bannockburn. Morello cherry, spice, orange rind aromas ahead of a juicy palate with ultra fine tannins.
2021 Nanny Goat Pinot Noir: Outstanding release of this deservedly popular Pinot made from Cromwell/Queensberry fruit. Alluring perfume of cherry fruit, plum and chocolate. Excellent flow across the palate.
2020 Chard Farm Mata Au Pinot: This is a blend of Chard Farm's best blocks in the Lowburn/Parkburn area. Deliciously juicy pinot noir. Morello cherry on the nose with charcuterie, mushroom and thyme. Tasty and harmonious.
2022 Maude Pinot Noir: This wine is a blend of fruit from Queensbury (close to Wanaka) and Mohawk Hill in Lowburn (Cromwell Basin). Aromas of cherry/berry and bakery with hints of anise, wet stone and sweet spice. Terrific pinot energy in the mouth, the flavours bounce. Harmony is everything though, with the acid beautifully tucked into ripe fruit, complemented by liquorice strap.
