Marchand & Burch Chablis 2022
From the Burch Family (Howard Park) and Pascal Marchand collaboration that produces such outstanding red burgundydydies.
Chablis, the northern outpost of Burgundy, is an independent kingdom of Chardonnay, where ancient soils infused with fossilised marine creatures imbue the wines with fresh, flinty minerality, crisp acidity and vibrant fruit character. Oak is not required to give these wines their most elegant expression, as the power of a unique terroir allows the grapes to speak their delicious truth of variety most perfectly matched to site and region.
Michele's notes: Florals, lime, stone and slate and a little smokiness - all quintessentially Chablis. Extra flavoursome, salty licks mingle with ripe stone fruits, citrus and nougat.
Golden straw in colour with specks of green. Vibrant and indulgent fruit basket aromatics waft from the glass with yellow peach, creamed mango and pineapple followed by a sugared praline nuttiness. Further perfumes of dehydrated lemon rind, green apple and scratched lime skin tickle your senses and make way for a fresh cut straw savouriness.
Rich and full on the front palate, a lovely blend of fruit weight and minerality merge to create an enticing fist sip. Lemon tart, marmalade, baked apple and pomelo intertwine for a lingering and captivating blend of tart and sweet flavours. Tinges of nougat and a waxy, honeyed note complement these mouthwatering characteristics that finish with a zippy glide of grapefruit acidity.
