Freycinet 2025 Pinot Noir
Freycinet Vineyard was established near Coles Bay on Tasmania's East Coast in the late 1970s by the Bull family. Winemaker Claudio Radenti takes an unforced approach to making this iconic Australian Pinot Noir. Meticulous viticulture and very simple winemaking techniques allow the fruit from this natural amphitheatre site, to have all the say. These are age-worthy wines.
Opening notes of blueberry/boysenberry with a resinous sappy appeal. Some French tarragon/anise. There is a petrichor earthy element that flow through to some spicy cumin and saffron threads.
The palate is initially svelte, lush and powerful. Again, with the blue summer fruits and some baked rhubarb/quince. There is an effortlessness about this wine. No compromises. The tannins and acids support the superb fruit from this very old east coast vineyard.
Its difficult to find the right words to describe this Pinot Noir due to the overwhelming pleasure it brings, what a wine.
